St. Francis of Assisi Church, Columbus

St. Francis of Assisi Church in Columbus has been a cornerstone of faith and community since its establishment in 1892. Founded by Bishop Watterson, the parish initially served a large area stretching from the Scioto River to the Delaware County line. The first Mass was held in 1892 in an abandoned Methodist church, and by 1896, the current church building was consecrated. Over the years, the church has undergone various expansions and renovations, reflecting its deep-rooted history. The church's pipe organ, installed in 1913, remains a notable feature, along with the stately rectory built in 1926.

Today, the church continues to serve its parishioners with regular services, including celebrations of the Patronal Feast Day and annual events such as the Pet Blessing and Yard Sale. Recent renovations have ensured the preservation of its historic features, including the restoration of stained glass windows and the Barckhoff organ.
