Teleferico de Puebla, Puebla

Teleferico de Puebla is a tourist attraction located in the area of Los Fuertes, connecting the Exhibitor Center, whose station is 58 meters high, with the monument to Zaragoza, where the station is 48 meters above the ground. From the cabins you can see the largest urban mural in the world, a panoramic view of the city, as well as the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes. In addition to the forts, other nearby attractions include the Parque Paseo del Teleférico, the planetarium, and the Museo de la Evolución.

The cable car has two gondolas that provide service to a maximum of 35 people per cabin, with a journey time of between three and five minutes. It costs $30 one way and $50 round trip. The hours of operation are: Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

In 2016, the visit of 752,598 people and income of 16.8 million pesos was registered. For 2017 the figures fell to 501,299 passengers and 11.4 million pesos.

The inauguration of this transport system brought with it some criticism in the national media. In addition to exceeding the budgeted amount by 116% (reaching a total of 359.2 million pesos), it was widely criticized for the delay in the work, whose delivery date was changed four times, adding in the end three years more than expected. provided.

Originally, the project included a length of almost 2 kilometers, which would connect the Exhibitor Center, in the Los Fuertes area, with the Historic Center. In 2013, after the Casa del Torno, a listed 17th-century construction, was demolished, the work was suspended after a judge ordered the suspension of work in the Barrio del Artista, since the corresponding permits were not available from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
