Vienna Hofburg-Orchestra, Vienna

In a city with a rich musical heritage and a plethora of music venues, the Vienna Hofburg-Orchestra stands as a relatively young ensemble. It was established in 1971 with a primary mission of preserving and promoting the Viennese waltz tradition, as well as showcasing opera music. Comprising 36 musicians hailing from various parts of Vienna, the orchestra also collaborates with six talented vocalists, both local and international.

Their performances can be experienced at prestigious venues such as the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Wiener Konzerthaus, and the Wiener Musikverein in Vienna. Furthermore, an annual highlight is their New Year's Eve concert at the Redouten Hall in the Palace, featuring compositions by Strauss, Kalman, Léhar, and, naturally, Mozart. It offers a truly remarkable way to kick off the New Year in style.

In addition to their iconic New Year's event, the orchestra's concert season runs from May to October. During this period, they host concerts every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, providing ample opportunities for visitors to savor their performances while in Austria during these months. Occasional performances also take place in November and December, making it worthwhile to keep an eye on their schedule. Vienna, with its rich musical heritage, proves to be the perfect backdrop for enjoying the enchanting waltz melodies and catching live renditions of operas like "Die Fledermaus," "Die Hochzeit des Figaro," or "Die Zauberflöte."
