5 Awesome Reasons to Spend a Day in Piran, Slovenia, Piran, Slovenia (B)

When recommending the best places to visit in Slovenia to people, Piran is typically one of the first I mention. There are only a few destinations in Slovenia I’ve visited more than once and this coastal town is happily one. That’s not because the town is packed with heaps and heaps of sights that require repeat trips. I think one day in Piran allows you ample time to see the town and get a feel for what makes it so appealing.

No, the reason why I was happy to visit Piran again was because it’s such an easy place to appreciate. It’s picturesque, historic, compact and bursting with character. But it also broadens your mental image of what Slovenia is. When you visit Piran, Slovenia suddenly becomes an ever more intriguing, complex place, and one that’s hard not to love. To give you a better idea of what I’m on about, here are some reasons to allow a day in Piran during your next Slovenia visit.

Sure, much of Slovenia is grand mountains and scenic rolling hills, but it’s misguided to overlook its coast. Look at a map of Slovenia and you’ll see that it only has a short coastline. Slovenia does a lot with it though, particularly with places like Piran. With a Piran trip, you get to see another side to the country, one that more strongly resembles Italy and Croatia in some ways.
