Antwerp is a beautiful city full of attractions, delicious tastes and a rich history. I can feel the traces of its history when I visit the city and this is very great…Antwerp definitely has a great history and the medieval spirit which I enjoy very much when wandering around the old districts. I like to think about the previous citizens of Antwerp, their lifestyle and stories.

I really enjoyed the Old City tour and especially impressed by the three attractions: Het Steen, Grote Markt and Cathedral of Our Lady.

Steen means stone in Dutch, the castle is purely made of stone and the name comes from there. The Steen is an 800 years old castle located in the side of River Scheldt. Het Steen is the oldest building in Antwerp and that region was formerly the oldest neighbourhood in Antwerp. This thirteenth century castle was originally six times bigger than its current size and contained other buildings, monumental gate, courthouse, church and a warehouse.
