Verona is the city of love and romance. Shakespeare set here three of his plays, with the love story of Romeo and Juliet having become its long-lasting symbol. My visit to Verona happened in mid-May this year, on a delightful spring season.

On my first day, it was nice to meet again a tour operator that accompanied us on a tour in Venice last year, Ioana Lucia Eliad, we simply call her Jo. She provided me with precious historical and cultural information, but most importantly, we strolled around the city discovering it through the eyes of the locals.

We both arrived by train in Verona, myself from Trento, Jo – from Venice, and started our visit in Piazza delle Erbe, the very heart of this city where colors, scents and sounds create every moment another invitation letter to discover its beauty. From Madonna Verona to the Domus Mercatorum, the House of Commerce and Arts settled by the Scala Family, this vibrant square is filled in with history.
