Hochhaus Neue Donau, Vienna

The Neue Donau high-rise stands as one of Vienna's tallest residential buildings. This architectural marvel, envisioned by the Austrian-Australian architect Harry Seidler, was constructed between 1999 and 2002. Its height reaches 120 meters, but when you factor in the concrete sculpture attached to it, it reaches 150 meters. Notably, the building's distinctive feature is its aluminum cassette facade.

The building's usage is divided by its floors. The ground floor through the 8th floor primarily accommodates rental offices. From the 8th to the 15th floor, you'll find two- to three-room apartments, and above that, there are one- to two-room apartments, with penthouses occupying the top floor. The building also houses two garage floors, providing a total of 220 parking spaces beneath the plaza.

The unique triangular plan shape of the 32-story tower is designed to maximize picturesque water views for all its apartments. The longer wing faces the Danube to the south, while the shorter one faces the Kaiserwasser and the Alte Donau to the east. The vertical core of the building houses elevators and essential services, connecting the two wings to a third 7-story wing used for offices.

Within the building, there's a cafe with outdoor seating that spills out onto the plaza, as well as shops and community facilities. These facilities include meeting rooms, a fitness center, gymnasium, saunas, all open off the partially 2-story high entry space.
