Hondori Shopping Arcade, Hiroshima

Hondori Shopping Street is a lively pedestrian arcade. Commonly known simply as Hondori, it stretches for approximately 577 meters from east to west and contains more than 200 retail and service businesses. The arcade offers a broad selection of shops catering to different tastes and budgets.

Visitors can browse clothing stores, fashionable boutiques, pharmacies, cosmetics shops, bookstores, souvenir outlets, and retailers selling everyday goods. Numerous cafés, restaurants, and snack shops provide opportunities to sample Japanese dishes and local specialties or simply take a break from sightseeing.

Hondori and the surrounding side streets also offer a variety of entertainment options. Depending on the businesses operating at the time of a visit, shoppers may encounter game arcades, karaoke venues, anime and character-goods shops, and photo booths, where customers can create and decorate Japanese-style photo stickers. One of Hondori’s most practical features is its covered walkway, which shelters pedestrians from rain and strong sunlight.
