Kennispoort, Eindhoven
Kennispoort, a striking post-modern building in the heart of Eindhoven, serves as a vital hub for business and academia. Housing both the Chamber of Commerce and the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), it stands at the edge of the TU/e Campus as a gateway between the city and its thriving innovation ecosystem.
Designed by Dutch architect Koen van Velsen, Kennispoort’s distinctive uneven oval form makes it an eye-catching addition to the city’s skyline. Its unconventional shape was further refined for practicality, with certain sections removed to enhance functionality while preserving its architectural intrigue. The front of the structure is adorned with glazed brickwork, which, when illuminated in the evening, transforms Kennispoort into a luminous landmark.
Beyond its aesthetics, Kennispoort plays a key role in fostering entrepreneurship and research. Operated in collaboration with Kadans Science Partner and TU/e, the building provides over 8,100 square meters of office space tailored for scale-ups and emerging businesses. With eight floors, it offers state-of-the-art meeting facilities, a welcoming lobby, and a spacious restaurant, creating an environment that supports business growth and academic synergy. As both a visual and intellectual landmark, Kennispoort embodies Eindhoven’s spirit of innovation and collaboration.
