Teatro Scientifico, Verona
The Scientific Theater (Teatro Scientifico) was established in Verona in 1967 by Ezio Maria Caserta and Jana Balkan with the intention of experimenting in the realm of theater. By 1975, the troupe had relocated its base to Piazza Fontanelle Santo Stefano, which soon became a cultural hub representing the 'new' artistic scene not only within Verona but also reaching further afield.
Recognized by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Scientific Theater – Theater/Workshop stands as a stable structure devoted to theatrical production. Its focus lies on contemporary Italian dramaturgy as well as the Venetian repertoire. Beyond this, the theater group reimagines classical texts, undertakes creative and educational endeavors, and arranges assessments and occasions.
As time progressed, specifically in 1985, the Theatre Laboratory underwent a transformation into a cooperative theater association. This collective now spearheads the creation of significant theatrical productions while also orchestrating exhibitions and festivals.
