The Baker Museum, Naples

The Baker Museum, formerly known as the Naples Museum of Art, is a leading fine art institution located in Naples. As part of Artis–Naples, a multidisciplinary cultural organization that also houses the Naples Philharmonic, the museum is dedicated to the stewardship, preservation, and exhibition of modern and contemporary art. Since its opening in 2000, The Baker Museum has played a vital role in Southwest Florida’s cultural landscape, providing world-class exhibitions and educational opportunities for the community.

Situated on the Artis-Naples campus, the three-story museum spans 30,000 square feet and features 15 galleries. Its permanent collection consists of over 4,000 objects, with an emphasis on American modernism, 20th-century Mexican art, and three-dimensional works, continuously growing through donations and acquisitions. Additionally, The Baker Museum frequently hosts traveling exhibitions from renowned institutions worldwide, further enriching its diverse array of artistic offerings.

Designed by architect Eugene Aubry, The Baker Museum opened in 2000 and was later named after philanthropists Patty and Jay Baker. After Hurricane Irma caused water damage in 2017, it closed temporarily and reopened in December 2019. A 2020 expansion by Weiss/Manfredi added 18,000 square feet, enhancing exhibition space and community engagement areas, reinforcing the museum’s commitment to growth and accessibility.

The Baker Museum fosters lifelong learning through educational programs, workshops, and public events. Its monthly Art After Hours event offers free admission for visitors to explore exhibitions in a lively setting. The museum also houses the Sisters Reading Room with the Saldukas Family Foundation library collection. As a leading art museum in Southwest Florida, it remains a hub for artistic exploration and cultural dialogue.
