The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Orlando

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a specially designed area that spans two theme parks, namely Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, situated within the Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando. This themed area immerses visitors in the magical universe of Harry Potter, drawing inspiration from both the film adaptations and the original novels authored by J. K. Rowling.

The initial phase of development was officially announced on May 31, 2007, with a subsequent two-and-a-half-year construction period culminating in the area's grand opening to the public on June 18, 2010. The central attraction of this section is the "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" ride, situated within a meticulously crafted replica of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This ride takes visitors on an immersive journey through the enchanting world of Harry Potter. Additionally, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter includes a family-friendly roller coaster called "Flight of the Hippogriff" and a charming Hogsmeade village with shops and restaurants from the novels like Dervish and Banges, Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Zonko's Joke Shop, the Three Broomsticks, and the Hog's Head. Former attractions included "Dragon Challenge" and "Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure."

Subsequently, the second phase of expansion was announced on December 6, 2011, aiming to significantly enhance the existing Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The focal point of this phase is the "Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts" ride, a 3D dark ride/simulator set in Gringotts Bank, a prominent location from the book and film series. Its design shares similarities with rides like "Transformers: The Ride" and "the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man," but it operates on a roller coaster track. Other elements of this expansion are themed around London and Diagon Alley.
