Exploring the Old Town of Corfu, Corfu, Greece (B)

Corfu is the biggest island in the Ionian region in the northwest part of Greece. There is a suitable region to consider for your next vacation. My visit to Corfu was in late June when the weather was pleasantly warm. I enjoyed the town, beaches and the islands nearby. The capital is Corfu town which is squeezed among two castles, preserved its history throughout the centuries and today placed in the list of Unesco World Heritage Sights.

Corfu Town has colourful streets, cosy sidewalk cafes, chic shops and well-preserved historic sights. The style is unique, great mix of cultures and civilisations. If the town was a cocktail, that would probably be “Sunset Margarita” with a perfect blemish of orange and yellow. No wonder it attracted many celebrities throughout history such as Ioannis Kapodistrias, Austrian Empress Elisabeth (Sissi), and the Greek Royals were a fan of Corfu. Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh is born in the Summer Residential Palace, Mon Repos when his family was on vacation. ......
