Sakura in Duesseldorf, Dusseldorf, Germany
It is time again! The time that I want to discover another side of my current home base, Düsseldorf! It is Springtime as well! And if you know that Düsseldorf is home of approx 6500 Japanese and, because of that, it is Europe´s third-biggest Japanese Community; it is a must-do to experience Sakura in Düsseldorf. That means, on a wonderfully warm and sunny weekend at the beginning of Spring, I got outside and tried to discover where to find the best spots to see Cherry Blossom in Düsseldorf. So, follow me and explore these beautiful and almost magical “Sakura”!
Sakura is the Japanese word for the Japanese flowering cherry trees. As Düsseldorf has one of the most significant Japanese communities in Europe, it is no wonder that you can find a couple of places where you can see those cherry trees.
Usually, it is some time between April and May, that you can see these Japanese cherry trees in its full bloom. In 2019, we have a pretty unusually warm January, and Spring began early, so at some places, the trees start flowering mid of March already. Just in front of the balcony of my apartment, I could see a cherry tree blooming from the beginning of March. However, do not expect to see the blossom earlier than April (usually – greetings from global warming !?). ...... (follow the instructions below for accessing the rest of this article).
