Hare Krishna Golden Temple, Hyderabad
Hare Krishna Golden Temple is a modern devotional complex built around a much older sacred site. Although the present golden temple was inaugurated in 2018, tradition connects the hillock with Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, believed to have self-manifested on a rock many centuries ago. The shrine is also associated with later rediscovery and local patronage, including land donated in the early 20th century to protect the sacred area.
The temple is dedicated mainly to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and Sri Sri Radha-Govinda. A distinctive feature is the standing form of Lord Narasimha with Goddess Lakshmi, presented with a calm and peaceful expression rather than the fierce form often seen elsewhere. The site also includes the presence of Swayambhu Sri Panchajanyeshwara Swamy, linking Vaishnava and Shaiva traditions on the same hillock.
Architecturally, the temple is known for its golden rajagopuram, dhwaja stambh, carved pillars, and spacious prayer halls. It is regarded as Telangana’s first authentic Golden Temple and was developed through community donations under Hare Krishna Movement Hyderabad. Visitors can observe daily aarti, bhajans, mantra chanting, and festival celebrations, especially during Krishna Janmashtami, Narasimha Jayanti, and Radhashtami.
