Primorsky Stage of Mariinsky Theatre, Vladivostok

Primorsky Stage of Mariinsky Theatre, Vladivostok

The Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre is a modern performing arts complex created to bring opera, ballet, symphonic music, and choral performance to Russia’s Pacific region. Opened in 2013, it later joined the Mariinsky Theatre network and reflects international design influences, including the Opera Theatre in Goyang, South Korea.

The building is known for its “cube within a cube” form, glass façade, and hillside position overlooking the water. Inside, the Great Hall follows the classical Italian horseshoe layout and seats more than 1,300 people. Its acoustic design is a key feature, with a metal-free suspended ceiling, pale wooden panels that shape the sound, and Yamaha engineering that helps carry music clearly through the hall.

Beyond the Great Hall and Chamber Hall, the complex also includes a Summer Terrace used for open-air concerts in warmer months. The theatre is large in scale, with nine floors, 14 elevators, and many dressing rooms. Its programme includes opera, ballet, concerts, Russian classics, and guest performances, supported by an international ballet company.
