Souk El Trouk, Tunis
Souk El Trouk is a marketplace located in the medina of Tunis, specializing in clothing and embroidery trading. It was established in the early 17th century by Yusuf Dey to cater to the Turkish community, particularly the Turkish militia and beylical regime dignitaries.
Originally dedicated to tailors and embroiderers of Turkish costumes such as kaftans, it has since shifted to the sale of traditional Tunisian clothes and various handicrafts. Souk El Trouk can be accessed through Sidi Ben Arous street or the neighboring souks including al Bey, al Birka, al Kebabjiya, and al Attarine.
