What to See in Mendoza, Mendoza, Argentina
Wine, wine, and wine: this might be the first answer to the question of what to see in Mendoza! Let’s start with a fact: this city boasts, quite possibly, the best vineyards in Argentina. Visiting the vineyards of Mendoza is definitely one of the most important activities to do, not only in Mendoza, but in all of Argentina.
Mendoza is not just about wine, though! Here, then, is a nice list of what to see in Mendoza: from downtown Mendoza, with its beautiful plazas and pedestrian streets, to hiking in the Andes and reservoirs. Mendoza is a paradise for those who love nature, and not just wine!
How to visit the vineyards of Mendoza? First, I took an Uber that took me from Mendoza to Lujan de Cuyo (twenty minutes, about seven euros). In Lujan de Cuyo, I rented a bike at Baccus Wine Bike Tours and pedaled through the vineyard area. I did two rides, lasting five to six hours each, pedaling approximately twenty kilometers.
In this way I got to know some of the best wine stores in Mendoza: Viamonte, Alta Vista and Gieco were my favorites. You generally have to book the tour on their websites: the cost varies (and inflation in Argentina doesn’t help me tell you an exact price), but figure about 10 euros for three glasses…great glasses! My absolute favorite was Rincon Gieco: eating a sandwich and drinking a glass of malbec overlooking the vineyard was a wonderful experience!
