Downtown Shopping Walk, Aarhus

Downtown Shopping Walk (Self Guided), Aarhus

Enjoy excellent shopping in downtown Aarhus, where you can buy just about everything you need in the many shops and stores. Find classy looks, everyday essentials and specialist items on Strøget. This is the city's nerve center, an 850-meter long pedestrianized avenue that connects Aarhus's best shopping precincts. It is divided into two streets, called Søndergade and Ryesgade, and they are filled with large chain stores and small specialty shops.

A very popular draw is the Salling department store, which first opened its doors way back in 1906. Come here for the hottest new clothing and shoe fashions as well as books, toys, kitchen goods and much more. Unwind with a drink, snack or a meal in its café or bistro. For elegant fashions and sporting equipment, go to Vestergade and peer into the beautifully maintained shop fronts.

One of the principle highlights of a shopping trip to downtown Aarhus is the Bruun Galleri. This is Denmark's largest shopping center, hosting approximately 10 million visitors annually who come to shop and relax. There are approximately 100 stores, selling everything from food and fashions to home ware and electronic goods. There are also restaurants, fast-food outlets and a cinema showing the latest movies.
