Kröpcke-Uhr (Kröpcke Clock), Hanover

The Kröpcke clock in Hanover is a well-known gathering spot in the city. It's considered one of the prominent landmarks of the Lower Saxony state capital, and it also serves as a platform for hosting rotating art exhibitions and presentations.

Back in 1977, the then Mayor Herbert Schmalstieg unveiled the current replica of the original Kröpcke clock. Around 1995, artist Joy Lohmann proposed the idea of utilizing this clock, originally built by the community for the community, as a hub for cultural activities in an effort to combat the rising incidents of vandalism.

Since approximately 2005, the Kulturraum Region Hannover association has been responsible for the care and management of the clock. It has since been employed for a variety of exhibitions and art events, featuring contributions from a diverse range of artists.

On May 31, 2015, a grand "birthday celebration" commemorated the 130th anniversary of the installation of the former weather pillar, and this event was organized by the Hannover Region Cultural Area Association.
