Osmania Arts College, Hyderabad

Osmania Arts College is one of the most recognized academic landmarks within the grounds of Osmania University. Completed in 1939 during the rule of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam, the building reflects the period’s focus on higher education and public architecture. It was designed by Belgian architect Monsieur Ernest Jaspar and remains closely linked with the growth of modern education in the region.

The building is noted for its broad pink granite façade, high stairways, arched entrances, and carefully balanced stonework. Its design is often associated with the Osman Shahi style, combining Indo-Saracenic forms with Islamic, Mamluk, and Hindu-Buddhist influences. A distinctive feature is its large internal dome, which is not visible from the outside, unlike many other heritage buildings in the region.

For tourists, the college offers a strong impression of academic history and architectural design in an active university setting. The surrounding campus has tree-lined paths, open spaces, and other older institutional buildings. Although interior access may be restricted, the exterior gives visitors a clear view of its scale, materials, and cultural importance.
