Palais Auersperg, Vienna

Palais Auersperg, Vienna

Palais Auersperg, one of several imperial residences constructed in Vienna during the 17th and 18th centuries, stands out as the oldest Baroque palace in the city. Renowned Baroque architects Johann B. Fischer von Erlach and Lukas von Hildebrandt were responsible for the remarkable design of this palace. Its opulent halls once hosted royal balls and weddings, featuring Vienna's most distinguished musicians. Today, it remains one of Vienna's most luxurious concert venues.

This captivating structure was constructed between 1706 and 1710 and boasts an impressive and elaborate architectural style. It serves as a highly sought-after and distinctive setting for various types of gatherings. Following World War II, the interior of the Palais underwent alterations to accommodate a new restaurant and hotel.

Since its completion in 1710, Palais Auersperg has been a significant hub for European music, politics, and history. According to some historical records, Mozart conducted a performance of his opera, Idomeneo, at this palace in the year 1786. This palace continues to be a well-liked location for hosting exhibitions and remains a venue for classical music concerts.

Conveniently situated in Vienna's government district, it is in close proximity to other notable attractions such as the Parliament, Rathaus, Burgtheater, Hofburg, Kunsthistorisches, Natural History Museum, Museum Quarter, National Theatre, and the Palace of Justice.
