Les Eaux-Vives Walk, Geneva

Les Eaux-Vives Walk (Self Guided), Geneva

The big calling card of the Eaux-Vives area is the iconic water fountain Jet d' Eau. This is one of the most famous landmarks in Geneva and it propels a huge torrent of water up to 460 feet (140 meters) in the air. Get close to the sprays by walking along the path that leads up to the large water feature.

The iconic fountain isn't the neighborhood's only captivating sight. Eaux-Vives is nestled on the left side of Lake Geneva and revels in its beautiful setting. A stroll along the embankments is a pure unadulterated pleasure. Eaux-Vives is also known for its many green spaces and your walk through the area will take you to the city’s beloved Rose Garden, a pastoral paradise of colorful and scented blooms. This is the largest rose garden in Geneva and it forms part of Parc La Grange, a vast lakeside park that also encompasses orangeries, a playground and an 18th-century villa.

The park’s Verdure Theater hosts free concerts every Wednesday and Friday during the summer. The Eaux-Vives neighborhood is also a good place to go for a spot of fashion shopping, in the stores and boutiques along the Rue des Eaux-Vives. Other attractions include the small restaurants and bars that make this part of the city a delightful venue for a night out.
