Many tourists make this their first stop when they come to Bangkok, seduced by the potential of picking up fantastic bargains among the stalls. Dining options are plentiful in Silom with an abundance of fast-food franchises and Thai and international restaurants. Alternatively, sample some of the many and varied street food options. The noise, color and vibrancy of the area are magnets for film directors, and Patpong has featured in numerous movies including Deer Hunter. It was also the location of a thrilling James Bond car chase sequence.
