While dinner will set you back about 4,500 yen, head there for lunch and you will only pay 1,200 yen for your choice of Seafood, Soba noodles, Tempura, Set meals, Sashimi/Seafood, Sushi/Seafood and other Japanese specialties. Only a 1 minute walk from JR Akihabara Central Station.

4) Maya

If you are looking for somewhere particularly special to impress someone, this is the perfect venue. Specialising in Sukiyaki, Shabu-shabu and Teppanyaki.

Private tatami rooms are available for a special occassion or you can dine casually in their dining hall.

With prices starting at 10,500 yen this is definitely not for your budget traveller, although you could enjoy sukiyaki or Tonkatsu (pork cutlets) for a more modest 3,150 yen at lunchtime.

Modern Japanese style Teppanyaki dining. Aimed at a more everyday casual style Teppanyaki as opposed to luxury Teppanyaki this is a relaxed place to enjoy this dining spectacle.

Another restaurant specialising in Shabu-shabu and sukiyaki.

Located in the luxurious Dai-Ichi Hotel Tokyo, this is another place to enjoy with someone special or someone you are trying to impress. Dinner menu starts at 6,930 Yen, while lunch starts at 2,887 Yen.

Located just 2 mins walk from JR Shimbashi Station on the Yamanote line.
Kuroud-Kuriya Nenohi Ginza

7) Kuroud-Kuriya Nenohi Ginza

From its roots as a historic Sake brewery in 1665, Kuroud-Kuriya is designed to enhance the sake tasting experience. They promote good food and good sake in a sake cellar environment. All foods are prepared to go well with the sake and are prepared in front of you in the wide-open kitchen.

A 7 min walk from JR Shinjuku Station or a 2 min walk from Exit A6 at Tochomae station on the Toei Oedo Line.

Follow the underground walkway from the West Exit and soon after you emerge from the end you will see the 51 storey Sumitomo Building standing in front of you.

10) Izuei

Looking for something a bit different, then how about an eel / unagi restaurant. Unagi is a freshwater eel and is a common ingredient in Japanese cooking.

Located an 8 min walk from JR Ikebukuro Station or a 3 min walk from Higashi-Ikebukuro Station on the Yurakucho Subway Line. This restaurant is in the Sunshine City Complex, a large collection of buildings in Ikebukero.

20) Big-Pig Kanda Nishiguchi

The largest okonomiyaki restaurant in Tokyo, serving Hiroshima okonomiyaki which mainly has noodles inside, making it very filling but low in calories, so it's very popular among women. Their meat and vegetable teppanyaki menu goes perfectly well with beer and Japanese sake. They offer party courses with all-you-can-drink from JPY3,108 per person and when the Hiroshima carp baseball team, win a game, they serve free draft beer the next day, so worth keeping an ear out for the baseball results.

Serving Udon and Soba noodles. Udon is a type of thick wheat flour noodle and is often served hot as a noodle soup in its simplest form, as kake udon, in a mildly flavoured broth called kakejiru, which is made of dashi, soy sauce, and mirin. Soba are a thin buckwheat noodle served either chilled with a dipping sauce, or in hot broth as a noodle soup.
