City Centre Shopping (Self Guided), Sofia

Sofia's city center is a haven for shopaholics, the ultimate destination for those wanting leading fashion brands, inexpensive clothing, fresh produce and lots more. Whether you have deep pockets or are on a limited budget, there are lots of options for you in the heart of Sofia.

A great place to start is on Pirotska Street, the first pedestrian street in the city. Come for shoes, clothing, jewelry and items for the home. Many of the goods are inexpensive, so if you love a good bargain, this is where you need to be. Then make your way over to the Women's Market on Stefan Stambolov Boulevard, the largest and oldest market in the Bulgarian capital. Filling the shelves is a vast array of items, including clothing, food, souvenirs and auto parts.

Travel down the surrounding streets for their ethnic grocery stores and flea markets. An exciting discovery could just be around the next corner! A big draw in the city center is TZUM, the Central Department Store. You will find it on Knyaginya Maria Luiza Boulevard, close to key government headquarters. This upmarket store is housed inside a monumental building and is home to some of the biggest names in global fashion. In addition to TZUM's retail outlets, you will find bars, restaurants and a space where the children can play.
How it works: A discovery walk features a route using which you can explore a popular city neighborhood on your own.
